Historical note

The November 2000 "Art Matters" newsletter of the Oak Ridge Art Center
notes the death of Eleanor "Ellie" Pomerance on September 29, 2000.
Ellie Pomerance was a founding member of the ORAC and a consummate
artist. In addition, to quote from the article: "her most recognizable
contribution still seen today is the design of the three-bladed fan in
magenta and yellow colors that has become the international standard
warning symbol for radioactivity ... A creative pioneer in many of the
arts organizations in Oak Ridge, she was also a passionate
humanitarian."
