Iran nuclear power plant to open in 2004-newspaper
  
TEHRAN, Dec 20 (Reuters) - Iran's first nuclear power plant will 
become operational in 2004, Hayat-e No newspaper quoted an unnamed 
official as saying. 

It also said all villages within a 10 km (6 mile) radius of the power 
plant near the southern port city of Bushehr would be evacuated 
within the next two years. 

The $800 million, 1,000 megawatt plant is being constructed by 
Russian firms after the original contractor, Siemens, pulled out 
following the 1979 Islamic revolution.
