This is exactly what we did in Austria. Contamination was extremely
ununiform and after we had identified the various degrees of contamination
on a geographic basis, milk from low contaminated areas was shipped for sale
to the higher contaminated areas. Milk contaminated above the provisional
limits was used for making cheese, which has to ripen for a few months. By
then I-131 has decayed and Cs-137 is retained in the whey. Whey is usually
fed to pigs, but the feeding was restricted, because pigs started to exceed
the Cs.-137+134 limits and so on and so on.........
