Well, for certain extremely critical applications (like getting a massive payload out
to, and match velocity with, an incoming comet or asteroid on an Earth-collision
course), Orion or similar very high exhaust velocity and very high thrust nuclear
propulsion is probably the only solution.....and the hell with the fission products
in the exhaust, if it saves the Earth from a 'cosmic winter'.
