Illegal nuclear waste disposal in Croatia?

Dear Radsafers

Does anyone have any reliable information on an alleged illegal radioactive
waste dump in the Papuk mountains in Croatia?

Today a Swiss tabloid published an article on its website, "disclosing" the
story which the croatian governement is said to hide from the public. The
article comes with a picture of a chicken with four legs and mentions other
birth defects on animals as well as spectacular anomalies on plants in the
region. It also reports statements from local physicians on an increase in
cancer incidence among the local population. The article goes on to
speculate on the source of the radioactive material, naming Krsko NPP, but
also a possible war legacy and on the use of DU ammunition during the
conflict between Serbia and Croatia in the years 1991 to 1995.

The article in german is at

Thanks in advance,

Patrick.
