RE: BSE and irradiation

Richard Rhodes wrote a book called "Deadly Feasts" which explores BSE and
the human variants (C-J disease). Rhodes was also the author of "Making of
the Atomic Bomb" and another with a similar title on the hydrogen bomb (both
pretty good also). The radio-resistance of the prion is discussed but I
don't recall seeing any numbers on dose, just that it was one of the
indicators that the infectious agent was not a virus or bacteria.

Rhodes' book was very interesting. He does excellent research on his topic
and writes well. So well that my own beef consumption dropped a bit. I
always liked seafood better anyway!
