Greetings from NJ
Upon doing an informal audit in an old educational facility, I discovered a Blue 15 gal metal drum, lablled as "NUMEC, Apollo, PA Radioactive Material, 5Ci PuBe" I quickly opened the lid: Inside the drum was 3/4 full of yellow wax, and imbedded in the center is a 1.5 inch dia. metal capped pipe. A thin NaI Scint probe at the cap of the pipe produces about 1200 cpm compared to a 300 cpm background., and a Pancake GM detected nothing above background
Any ideas? Could it be PoBe?
