UCLA Sr. HP position open
Under the general supervision of the Radiation Safety Officer, assure that
UCLA's Radiation Safety Program is carried out throughout the UCLA campus
and Medical Center in accordance with the Radiation Protection Manual,
State, and Federal regulations. Responsibilities include: overseeing safe
use of ionizing radiation on the UCLA Campus and at the Medical Center;
administering the UCLA human use research program involving radioisotopes;
administering the UCLA non-human use radioactive material authorization
program; and assuring that ALARA concepts are adhered to campus-wide. The
incumbent will supervise health physicists and technicians and oversee the
administration of other programs involving radioisotopes such as inventory,
waste, audit, training, etc. The incumbent will perform special assignments
as directed by the Radiation Safety Officer or his/her designee and
participate in department emergency response.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in an appropriate
scientific or engineering field and six years of professional experience in
a radiation protection program (two of which must be in a research and
medical environment) and successful completion of the Certified Health
Physicist (CHP) examination, or
a master's degree in health/medical physics and four years of professional
experience in a radiation protection program (two of which must be in a
research and medical environment).
The salary range is $4,392 to $7,908/month and is commensurate with
