Radiation Safety Officer, Program Manager - EHS

Description: Genentech is a pace-setting international biotechnology

and a rich product pipeline.
Working in the Environment Health and Safety Department, the Radiation
Safety Officer will administer all aspects of the radiation safety
program. The RSO is responsible for maintaining the radioactive
materials license, authorizing users and researchers, supervising the
radioactive waste, contamination monitoring, instrument calibration,
inventory and dosimetry programs along with providing radiation safety
training. The RSO participates on the site's First Alert Team.
Opportunities for advancement and work outside of radiation safety also
exist within the EHS department.
The ideal candidate will have a B.S. or M.S. in Health Physics or
related field and at least 10 years experience in radiation safety.
Prior experience as an RSO is highly desirable. A thorough understanding
of radiation safety regulations and licensing procedures along with the
ability to coordinate projects, supervise technicians and update
procedures is required. Familiarity with x-ray and laser safety is also
highly desired.
