3.1.2.  Dose rate



No external dose rate limit is specified for unshielded waste packages.

Limitations are however imposed on the external dose rate from the transport

package by

the IAEA Transport Regulations [4]. The dose rate at 1 m from the surface of

the

transport package shall not exceed 0.1 mSv/h and the dose rate on its external

surface

shall not exceed 2 mSv/h; the above criteria being applicable at the time of

transport.
