INTERNATIONAL NEWS:

--GERMANY WILL INVESTIGATE NEW INDICATIONS THAT CANCER RATES NEAR REACTORS

they are "satisfied" that data from a report prepared at the request of the

government by consultants at the Munich Environmental Institute show that

cancer rates in areas near German power reactors are significantly higher

than in areas where there are no reactors. The Munich institute based its

findings on surveys of cancer in-

cidence found during the period 1983-1998 near three reactor sites in

Bavaria.
