Re: Is there a database...
This is an interesting question if one thinks about it.
The whole concept and categorization of "hazardous waste"
as a separate entity is a relatively recent invention.
Before ~1970, there was no formal class of waste
designated as "hazardous" and all waste materials were pretty
much managed in the same manner, i.e. as garbage placed in
landfills, ocean disposal, etc. Surely, many tons of stuff
currently considered hazardous were disposed of in this manner
prior to enactment of current laws regulating hazardous waste.
Does anyone know of any scientific studies to assess the dire
consequences of these past practices?
