RE(2): Dateline NBC TMI story A different evaluation
Hoover,
Are you saying that it is reaching, but there is
no proof?
On discussion of reaching or not.
1. The question is: Is it harmful?
1.1 The river was/is taken everything out to the
Dnepr River => Kiev Water Reservoir => Black Sea.
1.2 The river water flow rate is large => large
dilution factor => small/negligent dose factor
associated with the liquid effluents.
2. Some may argue about the past sediments.....
2.1 Drinking water and fish is checked
(Fish is not in the local diet).
2,2 There is consideration of cleaning of the
river bottom (silt/sediments).
2.3 In surrounding areas fishing was more of the
recreational nature before, anyway.
2.4 Sediments are not a hazard.
Emil.

Even today no one is really sure that radioactive
material from the
Chernobyl Shelter is reaching the aquafier. And
the aquafier itself is not
much below the bottom of the Shelter. Some of
the core did melt and
penetrated into the basement of the reactor
building. While I was there,
one of the projects was trying to come up with a
method that was accceptable
to all to determine if there was an outflow of
water from the Shelter into
the local aquafier.
