Zvezda shipyard

Dear RADsafers,

Thanks very much for your quick (one answer arrived even before my request

was returned to me via RADsafe) and helpful responses wrt information on

radioactive contamination levels in the Chelyabisnk area. Most information

more or less confirmed the information already in my possession (say the

Medvedev papers and a publication by the IPPNW http://www.ippnw.org/).

I am also looking for information on information on (potential)

contamination levels around the Zvezda shipyard near Vladivostock (Pacific

Fleet), at which nuclear submarines are being cut up. I assume the rods are

being reprocessed at Mayak(?), but where is (if?) any additional radioactive

waste stored/handled. The only information I was able to retrieve was via

the site of the Bellona Foundation site http://www.bellona.no/ (thanks

Björn) and is mainly concerned with labour unrest. For contamination

information actually the issues of the Northern Fleet are described.

Can anyone update me, or point me to sources where I might be able to

retrieve the desired information. Many, many thanks in advance.

Kind Regards,

Gert Jonkers
