Position Title: Health Physicist/Industrial Hygienist
Number of opening: Two positions
Department: Environmental Health and Radiation Safety
Position Summary: Under supervision of the Director, responsible for the day to day implementation of the University policies and procedures concerning chemical, biological and radiation safety.
Essential function of position: Develop and implement University programs to ensure compliance with city, state and federal laws, regulations and recommendations associated with use of hazardous chemicals and radioactive materials.
Education, Experience and Requirement: Bachelor's degree and two years of related experience required. M.S. in related fields or Science Preferred. Strong math and computer skills required. Good oral and written communication skills are required. Must be able to move freely in small and large size spaces. Ability to lift heavy objects, some over twenty-five lbs., and wear respiratory protective devices required. Valid driver's license required. Ability to travel to locations not accessible via public transportation is required. Ability to provide 24 hour emergency response to incidents involving radioactive materials, chemical or biological accidents required.

Position Title: Training Program Coordinator
Number of opening: One position
Department: Environmental Health and Radiation Safety
Position Summary: Reports directly to the Director, Environmental Health and Safety and is responsible for conducting training courses, seminars, workshops, symposia, and coordination of educational activities including: organization of legally mandated and operationally needed training courses, identification of training needs, and maintenance of required database.
Essential function of position: Develop and conduct legally required training programs (i.e. chemical hygiene, right to know, hazardous communications, infection control, radiation safety, blood and air borne pathogen training, or any other necessary training).
Determine the necessary contents of legally mandated training programs that are used to transmit information to individuals who are covered under various federal, state and local safety standards. Make decisions that lead to the communication of appropriate information and an improved awareness of safety. Other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Requirement: Bachelors Degree in health physics, environmental health or related field required. A minimum of two to three years of related professional experience required. Experience at a University/medical center or similar institution preferred. Advanced degree and/or certification desirable. Computer literacy required. Ability to lift heavy objects, some over twenty-five lbs., and wear respiratory protective devices required. Valid driver's license required. Ability to travel to locations not accessible via public transportation required. Ability to provide 24 hour emergency response to incidents involving radioactive materials, chemical or biological accidents required.
