Eberline has an Application Note titled "Using Back Scatter Corrections for Electro Deposited or Electro Plated Beta Sources" that can be obtained on their website at <<http://www.eberline.com>>. It contains a fairly good explanation of 2 pi vs 4 pi efficiency. To view it, after going to Eberline's website go to Tech Support and click on Application Notes.
