Nothing.
I deeply feel with the people affected by the attacks in New York and
Washington and I wholeheartedly condemn those who carried out these attacks
and have brought so much sorrow and pain to others. But I am personally
worried about mass hystery and even more about the powers steering the mass
hystery to let the stock exchanges fall down, except the war industry
(sorry: defense industry) of course, raising the popularity of some
politicians and forcing other nations to back American politics in the name
of "common responsibility". I am even more worried about the attitude to
declare US perception of what is right and wrong as the governing principle
of everything which happens. I do not believe that killing people (not a
single person!) is justified to put pressure on a state or an organisation.
The actions of the US (or should I rather say "agitation"?) in other
countries like in the near east, the far east and South America has not been
governed by taking into consideration local perception and local politics.
Whether the USA likes it or not, the population in areas outside the US has
a different opinion on political issues and especially in developing
countries they struggle for survival and any organisation (whatever kind it
may be) feeding them will be welcomed.
Raise the living standard of people in the developing countries and they
will not be vulnerable to extreme political agitation.
Now I need a context with radiation protection - and this is not difficult
to establish. Developing countries are obviously very keen to pull up to
"Western Standards", which obviously includes nuclear capabilities - which
might go as far as nuclear bombs (India and Pakistan). Are we going to have
"islamic bombs", "hindu bombs", "pakistani bombs", "israel bombs",
"developed countries bombs"? What is the future scenario, taking into
consideration the possible spreading of nuclear capabilities? Why have so
many states not signed the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty yet?
Flames to my personal e-mail address, flames to RADSAFE will not be
answered. Serious thoughts about the issues I raised will be answered of
course.
Franz
