Terrorists and the nuclear threat

Hi all:

A few personal comments and observations.

Relative to the integrity of NPP containments. Shouldn't Sandia National

Labs be able to develop and run a computer model that could reasonbly

demonstrate the integrity of those structures? I am sure that the

specifications for those aircraft are available in electronic format.

Developing the computer may be time consuming, but should be rather straight

forward.

Relative to the acquisition of nuclear materials for making a weapon. I

would not bother with "reactor grade" fuel unless you could get your hands

on submarine reactor fuel. I would look at already assembled tactical

nuclear weapons that could be stolen, or acquiring "feed stock" from the

defense programs storage facilities. To me, these would pose the greatest

threats.

For radioactive dispersal devices, spent fuel pools might be the biggest

targets, but medical isotopes could probably be more easily attained.

Additionally their release could be selected geographically for maximum

effect.

With respect to suspicious letters, why go through the trouble of gamma

irradiation. Simply "iron" the letter. It is a crude form of

pasterization, but it works.

Just my thoughts and opinions. Have a good day.
