It has facinated me how some people object to shipping spent

fuel to Yucca mountain because of the possibility of accidents

or terrorist attacks in transit. Leave aside for the moment the

fact that there are thousands of shipments of more deadly

hazardous materials every day in this country, here is my

point...

Does anyone deny that the spent fuel will need to be sent to a

permanent repository, somewhere, someday? So are those who

oppose fuel shipments ("Mobile Chernobyl") saying that the fuel

should not be moved? Ever? Leave it where it is forever?

No. The fuel will have to be moved someday, so anyone who says

that it is too dangerous to move are using a smoke screen. It

must be moved someday. It will not be any safer in the future

than it is now. Anyone who says otherwise is not thinking.
