Re: Ship Yard Workers - John Boice

 From: "Jacobus, John (OD/ORS)" <jacobusj@ors.od.nih.gov>

As you know, "publish" means peer-reviewed papers. Because it's not pub'd,

DOE itself didn't include it in "all" the US rad worker data in the IARC

study, nor was it in BEIR V (even though the Chairs of both were the same

LNT-mafia person!, nor in other phony "evaluations." E.g., the 1973 Argonne

report, widely dist, is never ref'd. Nothing until a brief IAEA conf paper

in '76.)

Since we instigated Domenici's funding of "new low dose research," we

identified appropriate research to DOE. They did not fund such research. (We

advised Domenici that DOE would just continue to suppress the data. We were

right.) E.g., AEC/DOE/NRC killed the Argonne Rad Impact Program, radium dial

painter study, and other research getting the wrong answers. (Besides, I was

informed by senior AEC and Oak Ridge officials in '72 following a meeting on

rad health effects re 10CFR50 Appendix I that such "bad" research was

terminated and/or not funded through the '50s-'60s and continuing, e.g., the

then current termination of Frigerio's work. )
