Boeing Job Opportunity - Requisition No. 01-1023016



There is an immediate need for a Radiation Safety Specialist at Boeing's
Santa Susana Field Laboratory in Southern California.  The position will
support the Department of Energy's radiological cleanup program.

Job Description

A position is open for a Radiation Safety Specialist (Level 3) at
Rocketdyne's Santa Susana Field Laboratory, part of The Boeing Company. The
candidate will be a member of the Radiation Safety department of
Rocketdyne's Safety, Health & Environmental Affairs.  Activities performed
by the Radiation Safety department include occupational and environmental
radiation protection, measurement and reporting of environmental monitoring
data to agencies, and implementation of radiological surveys for
facility/site characterization and final release for unrestricted use.

Job Skills & Qualifications

Familiarity with many or all of the following is preferred.  Environmental
and low level radwaste sample counting and analysis with a Canberra Gamma
MCA/Spectrometer.  Portable ISOCS gamma spectroscopy.  Use of field
radiation instrumentation.  Environmental air monitoring.  Environmental
regulations including DOE 5400.5 and 10 CFR 834; DOE, NRC and EPA guides for
final radiological release surveys including MARSSIM; radiological
environmental software including CAP88PC, Microshield, RESRAD, and SitePro.
Good communication skills (written and verbal) and good computer skills are
required.  The candidate will be expected to interact with internal and
external customers including management, DOE, regulatory agencies and the
public.

Required Education

BS degree (or higher) in health physics, nuclear engineering, or an
equivalent engineering or scientific field, with at least 10 years relevent
experience.  Certification as a CHP is preferable.

Additional Requirements

The candidate will be required to pass a Radiation Worker medical exam
including a drug test prior to employment.
