Unfortunately, the quote achieved a life of its own. It was resurrected, in my experience, by the Atomic Industrial Forum, and was probably repeated both verbally and in print by lots of people. That's what happens to "sound bites". Look at "we have nothing to fear but fear itself" or "would rather light a candle than curse the darkness." The first of these did not appear in print as a direct quote -- it is from a radio talk . I'm always ready to blame anti-nukes for stuff, but not for this one.
