I am looking for ways that other facilities perform their formal site characterization. (site characterization and not waste characterization)

We are in the process of characterizing our site (a Former fuel reprocessing plant). Normally, based on isotopic ratios, we use the Cs-137 (Ba-137m) gamma as a trace to determine activity, but this becomes less effective as we move down the processing system to the final product cells. There are also many cells that have limited access due to either radiological and/or industrial reasons.

We are coming up with all sorts of ideas on how to accomplish our task but are looking for methods out there that have been used and that we have not thought about. Any comments will be appreciated. I have listed my phone number in case it would be easier to discuss items.

Thanks
