history of portal monitors

I am trying to trace the history of portal monitors. I seem to

remember a paper or two describing their impact on the Nuke industry in

terms of suddenly detecting hot particles, etc. which were not picked up

by frisking or the old hand/foot counters. Information about who first

developed them, where, when, etc. would be appreciated.

Also, who are some of the big suppliers of them at this time, that might

have some info on the subject All info would be much appreciated, and

can be sent directly to me without cluttering up radsafe.

Many Thanks to all.
