NC State is actively seeking an Associate Radiation Safety Officer to
fulfill the following duties: assume select management roles in division,
including RSO duties when necessary, liaison to the Pulstar Nuclear
Reactor, coordinating emergency response, providing necessary radiation
safety services and coverage, participating in the Reactor Safety Audit
Committee, oversight of the Radiation Exposure Monitoring Program,
including coordinating dosimetry efforts and ALARA program, oversight of
the College of Veterinary Medicine Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiation
Therapy and other associated radiation safety aspects. Other duties
include assisting with in-house training activities, Radiation Safety
Committee participation and other compliance tasks.
Master's degree in health physics or physical science with 3+ years of
relevant experience preferred. The selected applicant will have strong
interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication abilities,
be familiar with regulatory expectations, have supervisory experience,
possess a working knowledge of computer applications and have an applied
knowledge of ionizing radiation sources. Qualified candidates should send

campus-wide compliance with university/state/federal rules and
regulations associated with the use of radioactive materials and
radiation-producing devices in academic and research endeavors. The
University's Radiation Safety responsibilities further encompass a
College of Veterinary Medicine and a teaching nuclear reactor, as well as
several off-campus extension locations. NC State is located in Raleigh,
