Request for Radiological and Security Related Instrumentation

Request for Radiological and Security Related Instrumentation

The U.S Department of Energy has entered into a teaming agreement with the

U.S Department of Justice in a Joint Homeland Defense Initiative. My

company, The Chamberlain Group, has been contracted to assist in this

project. The first step involves identifying radiological and security

instrumentation that is no longer being used, and available for donation.

The National Center of Excellence for Material Recycle in Oak Ridge will

then arrange for packaging and shipment to ORNL. NMR is willing to accept

these instruments as Surface Contaminated Objects (SCO), thus relieving the

donor site of survey/release issues. Obviously, this request does not

include instruments with substantial contamination (issues may be worked out

on a case-by-case basis). NMR will refurbish/ recalibrate the equipment and

distribute it to first responder groups for use in national or local

emergencies. Radiological instruments being requested include all types of

dose rate, count rate instruments as well as personal self-reading

dosimeters. Security related equipment such as x-ray search and bomb

detectors, like those used for DOE/NRC site access are also being requested.

Your cooperation in this worthy cause is greatly appreciated. Please e-mail

Kevin Kosko for more information @KOSKOKD @aol.com.
