Re: Rocketdyne Worker Health Study

Barbara,

You can find a variety of reviews of, and commentary on, the Rocketdyne Worker Health Study at http://www.philrutherford.com/epistudy.html, including a color brochure, graphical results, and a written statement to the BEIR VII committee.

Reviews/comments by Raabe, Polycove, Willis, Holloway, Ford, Bond and Grimson are at http://www.philrutherford.com/peer-a.html.

The peer review mentioned by Michael Ford refers to a team of national experts, hired by Rocketdyne, to review the UCLA study.  They each wrote individual review letters that were submitted to UCLA.  The individual letters were never published, however their critique formed the basis of the Rocketdyne communications which can be found on http://www.philrutherford.com/epistudy.html

The peer reviewers names and affiliations may be found at http://www.philrutherford.com/BEIR_VII_Statement.pdf.

This study was completed in 1997 and so is rather old news.

Subject: Rocketdyne Worker Health Study

Folks,

I am looking at a "Report to the Texas Radiation Advisory Board on the Rocketdyne Worker Health Study," written by Michael S. Ford, CHP.  He states, "The study was peer-reviewed by eight prominent scientists in the fields of epidemiology, risk assessment, environmental disease prevention, radiation oncology and health physics.  The reviewers were very critical of the methodology, analysis, interpretation of the data, and the conclusions of the study."

Does anyone know if that "peer review" was ever published?  Or, where I could get it?

Thank you,
Barbara L. Hamrick
