1. The final rule for 10 CFR 35 was published today in the Federal

Register "10 CFR Parts 20, 32, and 35 Medical Use of Byproduct Material;

Final Rule" FR Vol. 67, No. 79, April 24, 2002 pages 20250 - 20397.

Federal

Register notices can be accessed at

<http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/aces/aces140.html>  Note that it must

20349-20397.

	As a related issue, revised draft NUREG 1556 Vol. 9 (March

2002)"Consolidated Guidance About Materials Licenses Program-Specific

Guidance About Medical Use Licenses" is available for comment at

General

4.	An amazing selection of topics were covered at the IRPA 10

conference. Check out the Conference Proceedings - full text versions

of

most of the presentations are available. Begin with the Topical or

Scientific Sessions links.

	<http://www.irpa.net/pub/pr/index.html>

5.	The NRC Regulatory Guides for Division 1 and 8 are once again on the

NRC website. As a bonus, some of the RegGuides currently available are

in

electronic form for the first time (at least at the NRC site), e.g.,

8.18,

8.21, 8.23, 8.24, 8.25. They can be accessed at

	<http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/reg-guides/>

6. If you don't subscribe to Radiation Protection Dosimetry, you might

want to consider purchasing Vol. 98 No. 1, 2002 "Radionuclide and

Radiation

Protection Data Handbook 2002." It contains individual data sheets on

144

nuclides. Each sheet contains such information as: emission energy and

intensity; A1 and A2 values; exposure factors for point source, plane

source, glass vial, contact with plastic syringe; skin dose factors;

recommended shielding; CEDE per unit intake values; ALIs; and

recommendations regarding bench top or fume hood operation.

	Keep in mind that the new ICRP dose models are being used

here.	For info: 	<http://www.ntp.org.uk/prod/prodHR_135.html>

Dosimetry

10.	A new website devoted to dosimetry is on-line. RADAR (Radiation Dose

Assessment Resource). "Our goal is to bring together the various

resources

that exist in the areas of internal and external dose assessment,

integrate

them into a single system, and put them in your hands as quickly and

efficiently as possible." <http://www.doseinfo-radar.com>

11.	The NRC published a final rule changing the regulations

in 10 CFR 20 that deal with the calculation of the shallow dose

equivalent

(SDE). The new regulation requires that the calculation be over ten

square

centimeters rather than one. "Revision of Skin Dose Limit" Vol. 67, No.

66,

April 5, 2002, pages 16298-16304. Federal Register notices can be

accessed

at:

<http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/aces/aces140.html>

12.	There were a number of errors in the dose coefficient tables in

Annexe D of ICRP 88 (2001) "Doses to the Embryo and Fetus from Intakes

of

Radionuclides by the Mother"; The corrected tables (p 353-515) can be

accessed at <http://www.elsevier.com/homepage/sab/icrp88>

Decommissioning

13.	Draft NUREG-1757 Vol. 1 "Consolidated NMSS Decommissioning
