I used 5849 at a SDMP site in the mid-90s (prior to MARSSIM coming out) and

agree that the required surveys were more labor intensive.  MARSSIM was used

at another site several years later and, with much personal tutelage from

Eric Abelquist, was much easier to use for releasing a site.

It is probably not available as all the federal agencies have agreed to use

MARSSIM (sp?) as a common.  We used 5849 at Fort St. Vrain for post

decommissioning surveys but it was rather labor intensive...MARSSIM may give

you some leeway depending on your situation...if you are dealing with U you

lose that advantage...Jim N
