Re: DOT training

I have reviewed alot of the training courses provided and found that you need

to focus on your primary method of shipping and level of activity and isotopes

of concern. Many of the courses available to the nuclear community primarily

focus on DOT regs and requirements and miss or only vaguely cover air

shipments and carrier(FedEx) requirements. I have had to focus on these

carriers and become more familiar about IATA requirements because of shipping

lab and environmental samples. A good company that has various levels of

training can be found at

PS: Your motto is the same as Brainbridge University - a nuclear power school

no longer in existence. Its illigitimi was Congress.

Hello all. A two part question regarding DOT training:

1. I'm aware of several providers of short courses offering live DOT

training, including CSI in Gaithersburg MD, ORAU in Oak Ridge, and Nevada

Technical Associates in Las Vegas. Any others that you've attended or are

aware of that are worthwhile?

2. Is anyone aware of a self-study program (CD, paper, other medium) that

would meet the DOT training requirements found in 172.704 for shipping rad

materials?

With great thanks,

Joe Greco
