Re: decommissioning questionnaire
Bill,
At Big Rock Point we sent out questionnaires to both active and retired
employees as part of the scoping survey conducted in 1994 and as part of
the historical site assessment conducted in 1998. We also hosted a retiree
luncheon in 1999 where past employees gathered together and discussed site
activities that may require further analysis and follow-up. The questions
asked on the questionnaires were:
Do you have?
(Y or N) Information on any radiological spill that occurred in what is
now considered a "clean" area of the site.
(Y or N) Information on any hazardous chemical spills, such as acid,
caustic, PCB, gasoline, etc.
(Y or N) Information on plant modifications that might require
reevaluation for radiologically clean status following the modification.
(such as the incinerator being removed)
(Y or N) Information on any process that has been done in the past, that
might require reevaluation using today's standards. (such as prior
dredgings of the discharge canal)
(Y or N) Information on "clean" areas that at one time were used to store
radioactive materials in the past.
(Y or N) Information on radioactivity which was purposefully painted over
or covered with asphalt, concrete or other material to hold it in place,
whether in a "clean" area, or behind a boundary. (example would be old fuel
particles painted into the cracks along the rails on the refueling deck)
Please provide the WHAT, WHERE, WHEN & HOW MUCH on the subjects above or
any other you feel the decommissioning team needs to investigate further.
Hope the helps Bill,
