Radioactive materials aboard a federal express jet survived a fire after the
plane crashed at a Tallahassee, Florida. airport two weeks ago, according to
a July 29 NRC preliminary notification. An earlier NRC event Notification
said one package contained 148 millicuries (5.47 gigabecquerels) of
thalium-201 while another had 153 millicuries (5.69 gigabecquerels) of
Tl-201. A third package had 1.6 millicuries (59.2 megabecquerels) of liquid
phosphorus-32, and a fourth package contained 194 millicuries (7.19
gegabecquerels) of P-32 in solid salt form. Florida state officials reported
that no one received contamination nor was there residual contamination at
the site, NRC said.
