Radiochemistry position in New Hampshire



New Hampshire's Bureau of Radiological Health has a position open in its

radiochemistry lab.



Laboratory Scientist III      One Full-time Position Available

Position Number 19633



NH Bureau of Radiological Health, Office of Community and Public Health



Salary Range:  $29,776 to $40,365



Location:  Concord, New Hampshire



Description:  Performs responsible technical duties on a professional level

for the sampling  and analysis of radionuclides for the operations of the

radiochemical laboratory and radioactive material programs in the

radiological health unit of the Department of Health and Human Services.

Participates in incident/accident response involving radioactive materials.



Requirements:

     Education:   Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university

with  major  study in the biological sciences, health sciences, or physical

sciences.



     Experience:  Three years' experience in a laboratory performing duties

similar to the assignments of the laboratory in which the position is

located, including but not limited to:



     Provision of  radiochemistry support to the radioactive material

     program for activities related to inspection of licensees that require

     the sampling, analysis and interpretation of data for regulatory

     purposes.



     Participation as a primary responder for all incidents involving

     radioactive material.



     Programming computers to accomplish complex data acquisition,

     analytical tasks, and preparation of technical reports.



     Operation, calibration and maintenance of highly specialized radiation

     detection and measurement.



     Conference with other radiochemists, members of the public, federal

     personnel and other states to discuss radiochemistry policies and

     procedures.



     Definition, maintenance and review of protocols, of a complete

     statistically based quality assurance program for specialized

     radiation detection and measurement systems.



License/Certification:  Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to hold

a New Hampshire driver's license.  Must have access to transportation for

use in statewide travel and be willing to travel for extended periods of

time.
