Health Physicist Position Open

Isotope Products Laboratories is the leading producer of medical reference sources (floods, dose calibrator standards, spot, ruler and marker sources), PET calibration sources (phantoms, line and vial sources), and SPECT calibration sources (line and point sources for attenuation correction). IPL also produces a variety of sources for industrial applications such as level, thickness, moisture, density and x-ray fluorescence measurements. IPL has offices in Burbank and Valecncia, CA and is a subsidiary of Eckert & Ziegler AG, of Berlin, Germany.

IPL has an opportunity for a Health Physicist to join our Health Physics Department. Under the general direction the Health Physics Director, the successful applicant will perform duties related to the recognition, evaluation, and control of ionizing radiation exposure to employees and the general public. Duties will include internal and external dose assessments, radiological assessment of laboratory operations, development and review of Health Physics procedures, survey instrument calibration, sealed source inventory and leak tests, preparation of radioactive waste for shipment, and radiation safety training of laboratory workers.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in science or engineering and three years of professional experience in a radiation safety program, or a Master's Degree in health physics and one year of professional experience in a radiation safety program. Knowledge of health physics fundamentals and regulations (10CFR, DOT, Calif. Title 17) are essential. Must have strong communication and organizational skills, be able to meet deadlines, perform well under pressure, and thrive in a team environment.
