TECHNICAL DIRECTOR,  RADIATION INTERNAL DOSE INFORMATION CENTER (RIDIC) Ref#

03-005 (Position located in Oak Ridge, TN)



To direct the activities of RIDIC to ensure adequate funding and staffing as

well as providing radiation dose information to government agencies,

contractors, researchers, physicians, etc . Job duties:



. Directing and managing all programs and activities of RIDIC to maintain

recognition as a leader in internal dosimetry.



. Managing, evaluating, and developing work of the staff to ensure that

program research goals are accomplished.



. Securing and maintaining program funding.



. Disseminating internal dose information through publications and

presentations and lecturing in courses on internal dose and related

subjects.



. Participating in research related to improving internal radiation dose

estimated; performing dose estimates; and supporting radiation emergency

response/training.



REQUIREMENTS:  Ph.D in Health Physics and more than 10 years job related

experience. Certification in health physics (CHP) desired. Experience

assisting medical professionals with dose estimates as well as calculating

dose to critical organs associated with new and emerging

diagnostic/therapeutic nuclear procedures necessary. Requires complete

understanding of the physical and biological concepts of radionuclide uptake

and intake and mechanisms related to translocation, metabolism, and

excretion of specific elements and modeling to measure the radiation dose.

Moderate travel. Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DOE
