Portable Spectroscopy Devices

With the proliferation of portable spectroscopy devices to first responders it becomes very important that they become properly trained.  Recently there was an incident where the portable spectroscopy device reported a high level of Co-57. It turned out that the package was a typical, well shielded, 5 Ci Mo-99 generator.  The spectrometer was interpreting the Mo-99 Compton's as Co-57.
