liver spleen scan

Greetings all,

A friend of mine is having a liver spleen scan with

technetium m99. I beleive this has a half life of

about six hours - then it turns into technetium 99

with a half life over A hundred thousand years. The

question he has is should he keep distance from family

and how long? I looked up the biological half life

and it seems to be 60 hrs.

Also, I guess he will find out tomorrow, what the

initial dose is - (I do not know of the dose usually

given for this diagnostic test).

Any useful knowledge would br deeply appreciated

Thanks in advance - Tom Savin
