Space shuttle wreckage and the use of radioactive materials in space: links of potential interest

(1) Well here is a small example of what is being written  about radioactive material in the space shuttle wreckage:

"- NASA provided county officials with a list of recovery priorities that includes anything that could contain data or resembles computer circuitry, or potentially radioactive materials."

"Scores of schools where debris had fallen were closed on Monday. There was concern that some shuttle parts could be tainted with radioactive material or toxic chemicals, posing a particular hazard to children from objects that landed in schoolyards."

"In the north Texas town of Rice, a piece of debris landed in the high school car park.

"It appears to be a piece of tile – it's charred," said James McDuffie, Rice's police chief.

"We were told that it's possibly radioactive and to stay away from it until the powers that be can get here.""

""They are looking for radioactivity and (chemical) contamination." His employees are working around Palestine, Lufkin and Nacogdoches, Hanawa said."

(2) Here is an example of a request for spaceflight-note that there is a specific section regarding radioactive material:

(3) Here are guidelines about experiments onboard the shuttle (note radioactive material is excluded):

(4) Here is a PDF document "Space applications of radioactive material":
