Job Opportunity: Two (2) New Jr. Health Physics/Environmental Monitoring Technicians Needed in St. Louis



Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) is interested in

hiring two (2) full time Jr.Health Physics/Environmental Monitoring

technicians. 

These are entry-level positions. The home-base of operations will be the St.

Louis area. The successful candidates will be hired by one of SAIC's

subsidiary companies. Benefits are not provided, and the hourly rate of pay

is adjusted to account for this. Technicians may transition to the parent

company (with full benefits) following a period of proven performance.

New hires will spend a period of 4 to 6 weeks in St. Louis where they will

undergo orientation and perform work on a local project. The hourly rate of

pay will be further modified to account for expenses. Both candidates will

then work a project in Ohio for about 2 months. The hourly rate of pay will

be reduced to a normal level, and CONUS per diem will be paid.



Job Description:	 

Technician's primary duties will be to conduct gamma walkover surveys,

radiological surveys, and soil sampling. Personnel will be instructed on the

use of relevant instruments, sampling techniques and procedures, and use of

GPS mapping and data-logging equipment. The positions involve a significant

amount of field work and regular interface with construction personnel. Some

travel in support of other SAIC projects will be required. Continuing

training will be provided and the technicians who transition to SAIC are

expected to progress to a senior technician level in a reasonable timeframe.





Education:

   High School diploma or equivalent

   Ability to solve basic math problems and algebraic equations





Desired Experience &/or Skills:

*	Some experience as a power-plant Jr. HP is highly desirable (one

position).

*	Some experience working with lead and asbestos sampling is highly

desireable (other position).

*	Basic writing skills will be needed. A sample of writing may be

required.

*	Ability to communicate clearly and maintain a professional demeanor

in all situations.

*	An excellent work attendance record.



Salary Range:

   $18.00 per hour. Overtime is paid. Hourly rate adjustment details will be

discussed with selected candidates during a telephone interview.
