Regarding Giant Eagle ending sales of irradiated meat, I suspect the nuclearphobic organization, Public Citizen, may have been involved (http://www.citizen.org/cmep/foodsafety/food_irrad/articles.cfm?ID=5424, http://www.citizen.org/cmep/foodsafety/).



The Radsafe Archives has some emails from August, 2001, about irradiated meat sales in Florida.
