Description:  Campus Radiation Safety Officer for a major university, which

has over 74 authorized (RAM and X-Ray) users and a licensed irradiator

facility.  The RSO is responsible for the implementation and development of

the Institute’s radiation safety program.  The RSO reports directly to the

Vice Provost for Research and has a three person full time staff.  The RSO

is responsible for administration of the personnel, facilities, equipment,

and budget necessary to conduct the radiation safety program for both

Georgia Tech and the Georgia Tech Research Institute.  Minimum requirements

are ABHP certification and five or more years experience as a radiation

safety professional at a licensed facility.  Proven skills in communications

and interpersonal relationships are essential. The ability to be granted a

DOD clearance is highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates

(1) possessing advanced degree(s) in Health Physics or closely related

fields; (2) having teaching, research, and administrative experience at a

university, medical center, or DOE facility; and (3) having had successful

experience as an RSO in an institutional radiation safety program.

Candidates with appropriate academic credentials will also be considered for

a part-time academic appointment to the Nuclear and Radiological Engineering

faculty.  Candidates should send two copies of their resume with name,
