My petition does not change what is currently in the regulation

regarding lapel samplers. NVLAP does not cover lapel samplers. ANSI

N13.11-2001 does not cover lapel samplers.

I disagree with your assertion above. My petition was well thought

out, and I consulted with many individuals before submitting it. It

was also reviewed by several high placed NRC individuals before

submittal. I am directing my petition at common dosimeters used today

to derive dose of record, that are currently tested under NVLAP and

are included in ANSI N13.11-2001 and ANSI N13.32-1995 (to be revised

and issued in late 2003 or early 2004). What I have stated is already

being tested, in a voluntary scenario. I am only asking to make the

voluntary non-voluntary.

As Bob Flood said yesterday, there is no reason why a processor who

accredits their whole body system would not accredit their extremity

monitoring system.

The requirements as stated are needed, and as a NVLAP assessor, I see

more reasosn every time I do an assessment where this proposal really

needs to be implemented.

Thanks ...
