Media Request re Unwanted Radioactive Material

Would you consider posting this message on your listserv as soon as

possible?  Please let me know what you decide.



I am working on a report relating to the recovery and storage of unwanted

"greater-than-class-C" radioactive material in the U.S.  Our research

suggests that some facilities would like to dispose of such unwanted

material but that there are obstacles to their doing so, at least in the

near-term.



Here are a few of the questions I have for the subscribers of your listserv,

particularly those who are radiation safety officers with first-hand

knowledge: 



Are you satisfied with the current storage of this material?  Are you

satisfied that it's secure enough?  If it's unwanted, no longer needed

material, are you frustrated that you haven't been able to dispose of it? 

 

I understand that this area of inquiry may be a sensitive one.  I hope you

will consider having an initial conversation with me, even if it's on an

off-the-record basis, or even an anonymous basis.  Feel free to contact me
