Steven,
Congress gave the regulatory agencies the power to regulate.  Why is Congress lacking in courage in curtailing the actions of the NRC?  Or the EPA, for that matter.  I would like to know what is your plan of action.

The answer is "nothing." Nothing is so special about radiation. The
regulatory burden has to do with fear engendered by THE BOMB; and power.
The regulatory agencies have been given the power to regulate to the nth
degree, and they are going to regulate or destroy someone in the process.
They are drunk with their own power. The NRC needs to be put on an
unusually short leash. Congress could do it, but the courage to do so is,
shall we say, lacking.
