I believe you are out by a factor of 10.

432,162 sq.km = 432,162 x 1e+10 sq.cm = 4.32e+15 sq.cm.....

4.32e+15 sq.cm x 1 m (=100 cm) = 4.32e+17 cubic cm

NOT  4.32e+18

Thus your final estimate of 5.1e6 metric tons in the top 30 cm becomes

0.5e6, similar to Bjorn's 0.6e6

Hi Peter:

Thanks for catching my late night math error. Thus my estimate based on 2.5 ppm U

crustal average and Bjorn's "English Garden" average U come into "agreement" for

total U in Iraq's top 30 cm.
