End of Project Report

I am writing from the West Valley Demonstration Project, an old

commercial fuel reprocessing plant in Western NY. We are completing

work on one of our cells, an old Plutonium process cell and are getting

ready to write the final report on it.

We are looking for comparison data from others who have performed D&D

work under similar conditions.

We have been performing hands on work in a highly contaminated

environment, millions of dpm/100cm-sq alpha. We have had to drain and

remove hundreds of feet of piping and many odd sized tanks. Our suit up

has been in multi layer cloth suits with a bubble suit over them.

typical dose rates in the cell have been 30 mR/hr.

If you have similar experiences with hands on D&D work, could be in an

alpha or beta environment, we would be interested in the following

information:

1. Typical dose rates in your work environment and your total person

dose for the job.

2. # tanks removed

3. Feet of piping removed

4. How long it took.

5. typical suit up.

Our final report will be available in a few weeks if others would like

our data.

I take advantage of radsafe to gather information for projects that we

are working on here. We also have over 20 years of D&D experience with

hands on and remote D&D work under all sorts of conditions and tooling.

If you need any information please ask.
