Sr RCT Training Requirements at DOE Sites
Greetings All,
I would like to find out how many hours of training is required at DOE
Regulated sites for incoming qualified Sr RCTs. Please answer the following
questions and send them back to me. I will send the results of this survey
to all who respond.
Links to DOE Standards citing specific recommendations or links/contacts for
contractor training departments would also be appreciated.
Note that what I am specifically interested in is what training is required
of a newly hired, DOE Core tested (and passed), qualified Sr RCT
(Senior Radiological Control Technician) prior to "turning them loose" on
site.
1. What criteria do you use to bring an individual in as a Sr. RCT?
2. How much Site Specific (for RCTs) training is required (hrs)? What does
this include and what is the breakdown in hours?
3. How much procedure training is required and how is it accomplished (hrs)?
4. List the time required for other training (instrumentation, surveys, etc)
directly related to the RCT Position (i.e. NOT that otherwise required
for all onsite personnel or Rad Worker training)?
5. Do you conduct OJT (Job Performance Measures) as part of initial
training? If so, what does this include and how much time is allotted
(hrs)?
6. What other training, if any, is conducted, i.e., OSHA Training (Asbestos,
Hearing Protection, etc.)
7. Do you require all this training prior to starting actual work? If not,
how is this broken down?
8. What is the total number of training hours (if there is any overlap
above)?
9. Does this amount of training meet the needs of Supervisors in the field,
or do you require additional training not specifically budgeted?
Thank you for your assistance.
