RE: Thorium in uranium ores.
John,
I was unable to locate a listing of thorium content in ores, but you may be able to estimate it from the following information -
From Flagg, Chemical Processing of Reactor Fuels, Academic Press, 1961:
page 56 - "The large uranium deposit at Blind River, Canada, which has already been described, contains about 0.03-0.04% ThO2, which is derived from brannerite and uranothorite."
From http://www.webmineral.com/data/Brannerite.shtml :
Composition: Uranium 33.54%
Using those two numbers, the ratio between uranium and thorium by mass can be estimated at about 1000:1
