Several points to consider:

(1) Radsafe membership is currently only a matter of sending a command to the

majordomo. There is no verification required before one is considered a valid member.

(2) I do not think that Radsafe needs to be a list whereby each member must be

validated by Mike, in order for the person to receive and post messages.

(3) The Radsafe Archives are on the Vanderbilt University server, and, are accessible

through the internet, simply doing a search. Posts to Radsafe and other lists, such as

MedPhysics, are not considered private posts. Anyone can access them through the

URL or simply doing the search.

(4) Password protecting the Archive is a possibility, but is also a burden placed on the

Vanderbilt system. I would think the less requirements we place on the University, the

better chance we have for them to continue to host our Radsafe.

(5) Unless members are screened, there are going to be those who can observe

anything that is posted, receive all E-Mails, etc. I really don't see the problem. As I

stated yesterday, if we're ready to post something to the list, then we stand behind our

words. If we're misinterpreted, we can always go back and clarify what we intended, in

that E-Mails often results in misinterpretations.

(6) Nothing we do is going to stop someone from taking what we say, or don't say, and

misconstrue it. That is always going to be a problem, be it written or spoken word.
