Precise half lives can be expressed in units of seconds, minutes, or hours. 

To approximate half lives in years using, assume 24 hours per day and use 

365.25 days per year for half lives longer than four years or 365.240 days 

per year for half lives longer than 100 years or 365.243 days per year  for 

half lives longer than 1000 years (no leap year for years divisible by 100 

except for years divisible by 400).
